Łukasiewicz - PIAP mobile robot showroom in Seoul

A Lukasiewicz – PIAP mobile robot showroom will be established in the capital of the Republic of Korea, Seoul. The institute is consistently strengthening its presence on Asian markets.

At the end of July 2023, Łukasiewicz – PIAP and Defence Korea, a subsidiary of SONID (a South Korean company listed by the KOSDAQ stock exchange), announced the opening of a state-of-the-art mobile robot showroom in Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea. This important step confirms the Institute’s continued commitment to strengthening its presence and expanding its activities on Asian markets.

Opening in September

The official opening is planned for September, during which robotic technology from Łukasiewicz – PIAP will be presented. Invitations will be sent to representatives of government bodies responsible for public security, to the Ministry of National Defence of South Korea and to the Polish Embassy in South Korea. 

The distributor plans to use the location as a platform for trading arms products between South Korea and Poland. It will be a space created not only as an arena for the presentation of Łukasiewicz – PIAP products, but also as an outlet for showcasing Poland’s unique scientific and technological capabilities, and as a place to conclude development cooperation agreements with the largest arms companies in South Korea.

PIAP IBIS, PIAP GRYF and PIAP FENIX robots in the spotlight

The robot showroom in Seoul has already attracted attention of diplomats from other countries. On 31 July, even before the official opening, Sami Alabdullah, Defence Attaché of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in South Korea, got acquainted with the construction of the PIAP IBIS robot equipped with EOD accessories, such as a recoilless pyrotechnic ejector, an explosive detector and a mobile X-ray machine. Moreover, the showroom in Seoul was visited in mid-August by representatives of Japanese companies, including staff of the Japanese Embassy in South Korea. 

The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, plans to go for a working visit to South Korea in the near future. On this occasion, we would like to invite the President to pay a visit to our representative office, which would be a strong support for the Polish institute of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, operating successfully on the Korean market.

It is also worth noting that the PIAP GRYF and PIAP FENIX robots were selected by the Special Operations Unit of the Police after rigorous equipment tests that demonstrated showed their exceptional performance and robustness.
