New edition of the Young Innovators competition

We invite you to participate in this year’s Young Innovators competition. We are waiting until 28 March 2025 for engineer’s, master’s and doctor’s theses defended after 1 January 2023.

The Young Innovators competition is addressed to students and graduates of exact sciences and technical intra-/extra-mural studies in Poland. The upcoming 17th edition of the competition accepts doctor’s, engineer’s and master’s theses written in Polish, German or English, defended after 1 January 2023. Submitted works must not infringe copyrights, invention rights or personal rights of third parties. Cognitive and scientific merit will be assessed, as well as the possibility of practical implementation  of graduate works in automation, robotics or measurements. The topic range of the theses submitted to the competition has remained constant over the years and covers the following areas:

  • control, automation and process automation,
  • robotics,
  • metrology and measuring systems,
  • sensors and transducers,
  • technical diagnostics and quality control systems.
 
Rules of participation

To enter the competition, please e-mail the following to konkurs@piap.lukasiewicz.gov.pl by 28 March 2025:

  • completed APPLICATION FORM together with an abstract of the work (1 page) in which the innovative and original nature of the work must be demonstrated,
  • completed by one of the designated persons: thesis advisor / dissertation supervisor / dissertation reviewer / faculty dean / field of study tutor OPINION FORM.
  • electronic copy of the thesis (PDF),
  • electronic multimedia presentation (PDF, up to 20 slides).

Paper versions of the APPLICATION FORM and the OPINION FORM should additionally be sent with the annotation ‘Competition works’ to the address Łukasiewicz Research Network: Przemysłowy Instytut Automatyki i Pomiarów PIAP, Al. Jerozolimskie 202, 02-486 Warszawa.

 
Prizes

The theses will be assessed in three categories: doctor’s thesis, master’s thesis and engineer’s thesis. The members of the competition committee will vote for winners by secret ballot. The prizes will be awarded for individual and team research. For team research, financial rewards will be distributed equally among all team members. The amount of prizes in this year’s “Young Innovators” competition is as follows:

  • in the doctor’s thesis category: First prize – PLN 3,500, second prize – PLN 2,500,
  • in the master’s thesis category: First Prize – PLN 3000, Second Prize – PLN 2000,
  • in the engineer’s theses category: First prize – PLN 2500, second prize – PLN 1500.

In accordance with the rules, prizes may be distributed differently. 

 

Announcement of results

The results of the competition will be announced on 7 May 2025, during the XXIX AUTOMATION conference, which will be held at Łukasiewicz Research Network Industrial Institute for Automation and Measurements (PIAP) in Warsaw. The authors of the selected competition works will be able to present them at the AUTOMATION 2025 conference.
