Łukasiewicz-PIAP’s ‘Tarantula’ robots to support the Polish Army

Łukasiewicz-PIAP has signed a contract with the Ministry of Defence for the delivery of almost a hundred ‘Tarantula’ robots designed for reconnaissance and penetration of inaccessible places.

 

 

 

 

 

 

On 7 March 2025, a ceremonial signing of an approximately PLN 50 million worth of contract for delivery of 96 Mobile Unmanned Reconnaissance Vehicles (MURV robots) to the Polish Army, with an option to increase the order to 130 units, took place at the headquarters of Łukasiewicz-PIAP.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Secretaries of State at the Ministry of National Defence Paweł Bejda and Cezary Tomczyk, Brigadier General and Head of the Armament Agency Artur Kuptel, President of Łukasiewicz Research Network Hubert Cichocki, Director of Łukasiewicz-PIAP Piotr Szynkarczyk.

The ‘Tarantula’ unmanned robots are intended to carry out recon missions in direct contact with troops, penetrate inaccessible areas, send audio nad video data from reconnaissance sensors to the operator’s console, handle loads in diversified terrain, and more. The MURV’s design also allows it to be transported in the landing compartments of military vehicles and carried by a single soldier.
