We’re helping to fight coronavirus

Łukasiewicz -PIAP Institute has launched cooperation with Łukasiewicz – the Institute of Aviation in manufacturing components of the bodies of adapters for face mask filters made for the medical staff.

The institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network have joined the fight against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Łukasiewicz-PIAP Institute has launched cooperation with Łukasiewicz – the Institute of Aviation in 3D manufacturing of components for protective masks for the medical staff.

The production was launched on 17 April. Our plan is to manufacture 35 adapters a day. 300 pieces will be produced in total, made of 4.5 kg of ABS-M30 materials.

The operations of the institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network to fight the impact of the coronavirus pandemic are implemented under a joint project #TarczaNaukowa (The Scientific Shield). Currently, several research and engineering projects in this area are in the pipeline. Scientists from institutes belonging to the Network, including Łukasiewicz-PIAP, are involving themselves in development of solutions that will help to fight the spread and the impact of pandemic, as well as the ones that will support the Polish economy and enterprises. These include, among others, development of vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 virus, manufacturing a device that enables independent ventilation of two patients with a single ventilator, launching the production of disposable masks, production of ventilator components and manufacturing the accessories for door opening handles to avoid contact with dirty/infected objects in stores, buses and other public facilities.
