PIAP GRYF in France and Finland

Łukasiewicz-PIAP has completed the procurement of PIAP GRYF medium pyrotechnic robots for the miners’ and pyrotechnic unit under the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of France and for the services of the Republic of Finland.

Łukasiewicz-PIAP mobile robots went to France and Finland with additional equipment for pyrotechnical reconnaissance and neutralisation. The sample kit for the French customer included: PIAP GRYF mobile robot, a holder for a recoilless pyrotechnic ejector, an automatic glass breaker manufactured by PIAP, a holder for a smooth-bore shotgun and a BENELLI M4 self-loading rifle.

PIAP GRYF robots are the most well-known and proven designs of the Łukasiewicz-PIAP medium robot which is already used by several armies and public security services around the world, from South Korea, through Indonesia, Nigeria, Lebanon, Senegal and Romania, to Italy.

PIAP GRYF is a robot ideally suited to the reconnaissance of terrain and hard-to-reach areas. Using a manipulator with six degrees of freedom and the clamping function of the gripper jaws, loads of up to 15 kg can be picked up. The robot wheels can be detached to reduce its overall dimensions for tasks carried out in narrow spaces.

Thanks to the drives used, PIAP GRYF efficiently negotiates uneven terrain and obstacles with an angle of inclination of up to 45°. The robot features an excellent manoeuvrability. The light weight makes the robot easy to transport and carry, and its modular design allows additional tooling to be changed quickly and easily.

The latest model of the PIAP GRYF mobile robot is designed to work with a variety of accessories, such as a mobile X-ray imaging radiography device, an explosive vapour sensor, fibre-optic cable reelers and a bus for remote firing of explosive charges, among others.
