SmartEx-Twin project gains momentum
After almost two years of the Polish-Turkish SmartEx-Twin project, tests with the participation of people have been completed. The main objective of the project is to conduct research into the possibilities of improving quality, efficiency and accessibility of motor rehabilitation exercises using assistive mechatronic / robotic devices equipped with the latest ICT solutions.
A technology demonstrator for remote rehabilitation of the lower limb (also via a digital twin in VR) was used in the tests, allowing the testing of a passive therapy, a therapy with intelligent modification of the exercise trajectory based on biomedical signals and a therapy controlled remotely in virtual space using the physiotherapist’s hand movements.
Thirty five people took part in the study – a diverse group in terms of gender, age, medical conditions and fitness. The stage has now been set for statistical analyses of the collected muscle and brain activity data, so as to determine the correctness of the subjects’ exercise performance and degree of fatigue.
The results will be published in an article.
